Don’t put all your money on A Star Is Born winning the Best Picture Oscar just yet. the awards season is still in flux, and a few players are still finalizing their releases. For example, Adam McKay’s biopic about Dick Cheney (featuring a nearly unrecognizable Christian Bale in the lead role) finally has an official title — Vice — and a release date on Christmas.

From the official press release:

Academy Award-winner Adam McKay's latest film, formerly referred to as UNTITLED DICK CHENEY PROJECT, is now titled VICE, Annapurna Pictures announced today.  VICE explores the epic story about how a bureaucratic Washington insider quietly became the most powerful man in the world as Vice-President to George W. Bush, reshaping the country and the globe in ways that we still feel today.  The film's ensemble cast includes  Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Steve Carrell, Sam Rockwell, Jesse Plemons, Alison Pill, Lily Rabe, Tyler Perry, Justin Kirk, Lisagay Hamilton, Shea Whigham and Eddie Marsan.

If you forgot what Bale looks like as Dick Cheney in this movie how could you forget this unholy image that shall be seared unto my brain for all of eternity? Anyway, here are some pictures:

For McKay, Vice continues his evolution from the preeminent director of immature comedies (and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible) to a filmmaker with more serious ambitions, following his Oscar-winning adaptation of The Big Short about the financial crisis of 2008. Bale also appeared in that movie, as a character who was far less physically alarming. I’m genuinely concerned for his health, but I can’t wait to see this movie on Christmas.
